More about Samsung Galaxy A repairs
Post your Samsung Galaxy A to me and I'll repair it on my bench in Lancashire, test it and send it back insured and tracked. I do every repair myself, and I've been repairing electronics for over 25 years. Every repair uses genuine Samsung parts at a fixed price, and comes with a 12-month warranty. You pay the postage to me; the return is included.
Which Galaxy A have you got? The model number is in Settings > About phone and starts SM-A, for example SM-A566B for the Galaxy A56. It matters because some models come in 4G and 5G versions that take different parts. This guide shows you how to find your model number, and you'll be asked for it when you book.
Screens. A screen replacement is £79 on the Galaxy A05s, A12, A13, A14, A15, A16, A22, A23 and A32 5G. It's £89 on the A17 and £99 on the A25, A26 and A27. These models have the fingerprint reader in the power key, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Most of the A3x, A5x and A7x models are different: their fingerprint reader sits under the screen, and it needs calibrating with Samsung's own equipment whenever the screen is replaced. I don't currently offer screens on those models. Screens on the A35, A36, A37, A55, A56 and A57 are coming soon, and this guide explains the fingerprint problem.
Batteries. A battery is £49 on the A05s, A12 to A17, A22, A23, A26, A27 and A32, and £59 on the A25 and every A3x, A5x and A7x model from the A33 up. Samsung's own price is £79 on every Galaxy A. Before booking, check your battery's health, and if it's draining fast, rule out the settings and apps first.
Charging ports. On every Galaxy A model I repair, the USB-C port is a separate part, usually a small board, so a worn or damaged port is replaced without touching the main board. On many models that part also carries the headphone jack and microphone. It's £49, or £59 on the A51, A52, A52s, A53, A54, A55, A56, A57, A71 and A72. A loose connection is often just lint or a worn cable, so try these checks first.
Backs. Some Galaxy A models have a glass back and some are plastic, and it isn't always the dearer ones that have glass. A back cover is £39 on the budget models, £49 on most others, and £59 for the A55's and A57's back glass. This guide to cracked Galaxy A backs lists which is which.
Genuine parts. Every part I fit is a genuine Samsung service part, and backs come in your phone's colour, as do screens on models where Samsung makes the screen frame in more than one colour. Cheaper copy screens exist for most of these phones, and some swap an AMOLED panel for an LCD one. Here's how to tell genuine from aftermarket.
Samsung or me? If your phone is inside Samsung's warranty and has a fault rather than damage, go to Samsung first, because a repair by anyone else ends that warranty. Before you post. Back up your phone, factory reset it from Settings if you can, take out the SIM and any memory card, and have the model number and colour ready when you book. I can normally test a phone without your passcode. If the back is lifting or bulging, contact me before posting it. I don't repair water-damaged phones.
