Samsung Galaxy A Battery Replacement Cost UK

Samsung charges £79 to replace the battery in any Galaxy A model, from the A05s to the A57. Independent repairers typically charge between about £35 and £90, and the cheap end usually means a non-genuine battery. My price for a genuine Samsung battery is £49 on the A05s, A12, A13, A14, A15, A16, A17, A22, A23, A26, A27 and A32, and £59 on the A25 and every A3x, A5x and A7x model from the A33 up.

Before you pay anyone, it's worth checking whether the battery really is the problem. A lot of "battery" complaints turn out to be an app, a setting or a phone that's simply slow.

Battery replacement prices by model

Samsung's price is £79 on every model below (September 2026). Mine, all with a genuine Samsung battery:

The difference comes down to the part: the genuine batteries for the A25 and the A33 upwards cost more than the ones the budget models use.

Check the battery before you book

Samsung builds a battery check into the Samsung Members app. Open it, tap Support, then Get started, then Battery status. It gives one of three results:

  • Normal: no performance problem with the battery. If your phone still drains fast, look at apps and settings first.
  • Weak: the battery has lost some efficiency through age and use. A replacement will help if the battery life bothers you.
  • Bad: the battery has degraded significantly, and Samsung recommends getting it looked at. This is when a replacement makes the biggest difference.

This guide to checking battery health goes through it step by step, and this one covers the settings and apps to check if the result says Normal but your phone still won't last.

If you're wondering how long a battery should last, and how to slow its wear, this guide covers battery lifespan and Samsung's battery protection setting.

What a new battery fixes, and what it doesn't

A new battery brings back battery life. It fixes a phone that won't last the day, switches off with charge still showing, or only works on the charger.

It won't make a slow or laggy phone faster. That's a common hope, and I'd rather be honest about it: lag on an older Galaxy A is usually down to full storage, a heavy app or the software, not the battery. Freeing up storage and updating the phone are worth trying first.

One exception: if the back of your phone is lifting or bulging, the battery may be swelling. Stop charging it, and contact me before you post it.

Samsung, Care+ or an independent repairer?

  • Samsung's repair service: £79, a genuine battery, fitted by an authorised repairer. If your phone is still inside Samsung's warranty and the battery has a fault, go to Samsung first.
  • Samsung Care+: if you bought Care+ for your phone, it includes a battery replacement once the battery's health drops below 80%. Check your plan before paying for one.
  • An independent repairer: usually cheaper. Ask whether the battery is a genuine Samsung part, because many low quotes use copies whose real capacity can fall short of the label. Here's why a genuine battery matters.

There's more on the two routes in Samsung's repair service vs an independent repairer.

Why a battery replacement takes some care

On every Galaxy A model I repair, the battery is glued or taped into the frame, and on most of them the back is glued on too. The back has to be warmed so it lifts without cracking, and the battery has to come out without bending it, because a bent lithium cell is a fire risk. Then the back is resealed with new adhesive. On models with a water-resistance rating, no repairer can promise the original rating afterwards, so treat the phone as not water-resistant after any battery job.

How a battery replacement works with me

Book and pay online, post the phone to me, and I fit a genuine Samsung battery, test charging, and send it back insured and tracked. You pay the postage to me; the return is included. If I can't repair it, I refund what you paid, less return postage. Every repair has a 12-month warranty. See every model on the Samsung Galaxy A repair page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Samsung charge for a battery replacement?

£79 on every Galaxy A model, when I checked in September 2026. It's a recommended price, and Samsung says it can change if more work is needed.

Is it worth replacing the battery in an A54?

Usually, yes. The A54 is still inside Samsung's security update period, and a battery costs a fraction of a new phone. Just don't expect a new battery to fix lag.

How long does a Samsung battery last?

It depends on how hard the phone is used and how it's charged. Most start to show their age after two or three years of daily charging. The Samsung Members battery check tells you where yours is.

How much is a genuine Samsung battery replacement?

Samsung charges £79 fitted on every Galaxy A. Mine, with a genuine Samsung battery, is £49 on the A05s, A12 to A17, A22, A23, A26, A27 and A32, and £59 on the A25 and the A33 upwards.
