Samsung Galaxy A17 Repair
No fix, no fee · 12-month warranty · Insured, tracked returns
Signs your Galaxy A17 needs a repair
- Cracked glass or a damaged display after a drop
- Lines, patches or a black screen while the phone still works
- Touch not responding in part of the screen
- Charger loose, or charging only at an angle
- Cracked back cover
A Samsung Galaxy A17 screen replacement costs £89 by post, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. A battery is £49, a charging port £49 and a back cover £39. Samsung's own recommended price for an A17 screen is £119, and £79 for a battery.
The Galaxy A17 5G went on sale in the UK in August 2025, and a 4G Galaxy A17 followed. Both have a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen behind Gorilla Glass Victus, a 5,000mAh battery, an IP54 splash-resistance rating and the fingerprint reader in the power key.
Which Galaxy A17 do I have?
Go to Settings > About phone and check the model number. SM-A176B is the Galaxy A17 5G and SM-A175F is the 4G Galaxy A17. They take different screens and charging boards, so I need the model number when you book, and your phone's colour if you're booking a back cover, because genuine backs are colour-matched. This guide shows where to find it.
Galaxy A17 screen replacement
The A17's front glass is Gorilla Glass Victus, tougher than the glass on older A1x phones, but a hard drop onto a corner or a pavement still cracks it. Once it's cracked, the AMOLED panel underneath can show lines, green or black patches, or go black while the phone still rings, and touch can stop working in one area.
I fit a genuine Samsung screen for your version, supplied as a service part already fitted in its frame. Copy screens for the A17 are starting to appear, and the cheapest tend to be LCD panels made to fit AMOLED phones, with a flatter, dimmer picture. This guide explains how to tell the difference.
The fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Before the phone goes back, I test touch across the whole screen, the display for lines and tint, brightness, the front camera, the earpiece and the proximity sensor.
It's £89, a little more than the older A1x models because the part costs more. Samsung's recommended price is £119, and this guide compares every Galaxy A.
Galaxy A17 battery replacement
Most A17 batteries are still in good health. If yours is draining fast already, it's more likely to be an app, a setting or an update than the battery itself, and this guide covers what to check. You can see the battery's condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, and this guide explains the result.
When the battery does need replacing, the job starts with the glued plastic back, which comes off with gentle heat. The battery is glued to the frame too, so it's lifted out slowly and flat, a genuine Samsung battery goes in, and the back goes on with fresh adhesive. I test charging before the phone is posted back. It's £49, against Samsung's £79.
Galaxy A17 charging port repair
The A17's USB-C port sits on a small separate charging board at the bottom of the phone, and the 4G and 5G versions use different boards. A worn, damaged or loose port is fixed by fitting a new genuine charging board for your version.
On a phone of this age, a charging fault is often a cable, a plug or lint in the port rather than the port itself. Try another cable and plug, and look into the port with a torch. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest. If it still won't charge reliably, the charging port repair is £49, and I test charging, fast charging and a data connection before it goes back.
Galaxy A17 back cover replacement
The A17's back is fibre-reinforced plastic, glued to a plastic frame. It's more likely to crack or split than shatter. I replace it with a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour and seal it with new adhesive. It's £39. The A17 is rated IP54, splash-resistant rather than waterproof, and I can't promise it keeps that rating after it's been opened.
Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A17?
Almost always. The A17 5G is covered by Samsung's promise of six years of Android and security updates, and at £169 to £199 new, an £89 screen or £49 battery is well worth it for a phone with so much life left. If it's still inside Samsung's warranty and the fault isn't damage, go to Samsung first. This guide compares every Galaxy A model.
