To find out which Samsung Galaxy A you have, go to Settings > About phone and look at the model number. It starts SM-A, for example SM-A566B for the Galaxy A56. The model number tells you exactly which phone you have, including whether it's the 4G or 5G version, which matters for repairs because some versions take different parts.
Where to find the model number
In Settings
Open Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap About phone. The model name (for example Galaxy A16 5G) and the model number (for example SM-A166B) are both shown. Some phones add a suffix such as /DS or /DSN, which just means dual SIM.
On the box
The label on the original box shows the model number, usually alongside the IMEI and colour.
If the phone won't turn on
Check the box, your receipt, or your network account if the phone came on a contract. Your Samsung account also lists registered devices. If you can't find it, book with the model name you know and I'll confirm the exact model when the phone arrives.

- Galaxy A05s: SM-A057G (imports may show SM-A057F).
- Galaxy A12: SM-A125F, and a later revision, SM-A127F. They take different screens and charging boards.
- Galaxy A13: SM-A135F. (The Galaxy A13 5G is SM-A136B, a different phone.)

Imported phones can carry other codes (the last letter usually changes by region). If yours doesn't match, give me the model number when you book and I'll check the parts fit.
Why 4G or 5G matters for repairs
On some models the 4G and 5G versions look almost identical but take different parts. The A14's 4G and 5G versions have different screens and charging boards, and so do the A16 and A17. The A22 and A32 go further: their 4G and 5G versions have different screens, batteries and boards, and on the A32 even the fingerprint reader is in a different place. The A12's two revisions take different screens and boards too. The A15 is the exception: both versions share the same screen, battery and charging board, and the A52 and A52 5G share theirs. That's why I ask for the model number when you book.

- Where's the fingerprint reader? In the power key on the A05s, A12 to A17, A22, A23, A25, A26, A27 and A32 5G; under the screen on the 4G A32, the A33 to A37, the A51, A52 and A52s, the A53 to A57, and the A71 and A72.
- Is the back glass or plastic? Glass on the A26, A27, A35, A36, A37, A54, A55, A56 and A57; plastic on the others. This guide covers backs.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my Samsung is 4G or 5G?
Check the model name and number in Settings > About phone. The 5G versions include "5G" in the name, and the model number is different, for example SM-A166B for the A16 5G and SM-A165F for the 4G A16.
What does /DS or /DSN mean on my model number?
It means the phone is a dual SIM version. It doesn't change which parts it takes.
Where is the model number on the phone itself?
Newer Galaxy A phones don't print it on the back. Use Settings > About phone, or the box label.
