Samsung Galaxy A54 Repair

From £49

No fix, no fee · 12-month warranty · Insured, tracked returns

Signs your Galaxy A54 needs a repair

  • Battery draining fast, or the phone shutting down early
  • Cracked or shattered back glass
  • Charger loose, or charging on and off
  • Phone warm while charging

A Samsung Galaxy A54 battery replacement costs £59 by post, a charging port £59 and back glass £49, all with genuine Samsung parts and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own price for an A54 battery is £79. I don't offer screen replacements on the A54, because of its under-screen fingerprint reader: the screen section below explains, and says where to go if your screen is broken.

The Galaxy A54 5G launched in March 2023 at £449, and it was the first A5x phone with a glass back. It has a 6.4-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, an optical fingerprint reader under the display, a 5,000mAh battery and an IP67 water-resistance rating.

Which Galaxy A54 do I have?

The A54 was sold in the UK as a 5G phone, model number SM-A546B, found in Settings > About phone. I'll ask for it when you book, and for your colour if you're booking back glass. This guide shows where to find it.

Galaxy A54 screen replacement

The A54's fingerprint reader is an optical sensor under the screen. During a screen replacement it's moved to the new screen, and Samsung's repair manuals for its newer under-screen fingerprint phones say it must be calibrated with Samsung's own equipment every time. A54 owners have reported fingerprint readers failing after screen repairs elsewhere.

The A54 isn't in Samsung's Self-Repair programme, so the calibration is only available through Samsung's own repair network. For that reason I don't replace A54 screens, rather than risk returning your phone with a fingerprint reader that doesn't work.

Samsung's recommended price for an A54 screen is £139, and its repairers calibrate the fingerprint reader as part of the job. If you use an independent repairer, ask before booking whether they can calibrate it, and what happens if it doesn't work afterwards. This guide explains the fingerprint problem.

Galaxy A54 battery replacement

Most A54s are now two to three years into daily charging, and the battery is usually the first thing to show it. The signs are a phone that won't last the day, drops off at 15 or 20%, or runs warm on the charger. Samsung Members shows the battery's condition under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, and this guide explains the result.

On the A54, the battery sits under the glass back. The glass is warmed so its adhesive lets go without cracking it further, the battery is eased off its adhesive without bending, and a genuine Samsung battery goes in before the back is resealed with fresh adhesive. I test charging and check the fingerprint reader before it goes back; the screen and sensor aren't touched. It's £59, against Samsung's £79.

One honest point, because it comes up a lot: a new battery brings back battery life, but it won't fix a phone that's become slow or laggy. That's usually storage, apps or software. This guide to fast battery drain helps you tell which problem you've got. If the back is lifting away from the phone, stop charging it and contact me before posting.

Galaxy A54 charging port repair

The A54's USB-C port is on a small separate charging board at the bottom of the phone. A worn, loose or damaged port is fixed by fitting a new genuine charging board. The A54's board costs more than those on the A3x phones, which is why this repair is £59.

Before booking, try another cable and plug, and check the port for lint with a torch. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest. I test charging, fast charging and a data connection before the phone goes back.

Galaxy A54 back glass replacement

The A54's back is glass, and a drop onto a hard floor can crack it right across. Cracked back glass sheds splinters and sharp edges, and it lets dust in around the cameras. I remove the broken glass, clean the old adhesive from the frame, fit a genuine Samsung back in your phone's colour and seal it with new adhesive. It's £49. This guide to cracked Galaxy A backs explains which models have glass. The A54 is IP67-rated from new. I seal the new back with fresh adhesive, but I can't promise that rating survives opening, so treat it as not water-resistant afterwards.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A54?

Usually, yes. Samsung committed to five years of security updates for the A54, running to 2028, and it cost £449 new. A £59 battery or £49 back glass is a small outlay for another couple of years. This guide compares every Galaxy A model.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Galaxy A54 battery replacement cost?
£59 by post, with a genuine Samsung battery and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own price is £79.
Will a new battery fix my A54's lag?
No. A new battery restores battery life, not speed. Lag is usually storage, apps or software, so try clearing storage and updating first.
Can you replace the screen on a Galaxy A54?
Not at the moment. The A54's under-screen fingerprint reader must be calibrated with Samsung's equipment after a new screen, and for this model that's only available through Samsung's repair network. Samsung's recommended price for an A54 screen is £139.
How much is A54 back glass?
£49 by post, with a genuine Samsung back in your phone's colour, sealed with new adhesive.
Will my A54 still be water-resistant after a repair?
I can't promise it. It's resealed with new adhesive, but any phone that's been opened can lose some of its original IP67 water resistance.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
