Frequently asked questions

Does Dyson repair the Supersonic out of warranty?
Dyson's hair care warranty runs for two years. After that, Dyson say they charge a flat £99 for an out-of-warranty repair. They don't say whether you get your own dryer back or an exchanged one. My repairs start at £49, and your own Supersonic comes back to you.
Which Supersonic models do you repair?
The classic round-body Supersonic. I don't repair the Supersonic r or the Supersonic Travel: they use completely different internals, and there's no independent parts supply for them yet.
How does the £4.99 assessment work?
For faults that need a look first, such as weak airflow, loud noise or blowing cold, you pay £4.99 to book. I assess the dryer and send you a quote before doing any work. If you go ahead, the £4.99 comes off the repair. If you decline, it covers the return postage.
Is it better to buy a refurbished Supersonic?
A refurbished Supersonic from Dyson costs around £250 when it's in stock. Most repairs here are £49 to £85, with motor repairs from £109 and heater repairs from £129, so repairing is usually the cheaper route.
More about Dyson Supersonic repairs

I repair the classic round-body Dyson Supersonic hair dryer by post, anywhere in the UK — the original domestic models and the Professional versions of them. Most faults come down to a small number of known failure points: the mains cable, the power switch, a blocked airflow path, the thermal protection or the motor, and I fix those properly rather than replacing the whole dryer.

Where I can price a fault in advance, I do. A dead dryer or a cable fault is £79, one that cuts out is £85, and a service and deep clean is £49, with nothing else to pay.

Where the same symptom could be a cheap fix or an expensive one — weak airflow, blowing cold, or you're not sure — it starts with a £4.99 assessment. I open it, tell you exactly what's wrong and what it costs, and only do the work once you've said yes. Motor repairs are from £109 and heater repairs from £129, and the £4.99 comes off if you go ahead.

Two models I don't take. The Supersonic r and the Supersonic Travel use completely different internals, and there's no independent parts supply for them yet, so I can't repair them honestly, and I'd rather say so than take your money and post it back. Check your model number before booking.
