Nintendo Switch Charging Port Repair

A loose, damaged or dead USB-C port replaced on the Switch, Switch OLED or Switch Lite. If the fault is a chip behind the port, I tell you before any work.

Switch Won't Turn On or Charge: Board Fault Repair

Board-level diagnosis and repair for a Switch that won't power on, won't charge with a good port, has no TV picture or shows an orange or blue screen.

Nintendo Switch Screen Replacement

A cracked, lined or dead screen on the original Switch replaced with a quality replacement panel, fitted and tested before it's posted back to you.

Nintendo Switch OLED Screen Replacement

A cracked, lined or dead Switch OLED screen replaced with a quality replacement OLED panel, fitted and tested, and your own console posted back.

Switch Lite Screen Replacement

A cracked, lined or dead Switch Lite screen replaced with a quality replacement panel, fitted and tested before your own console is posted back.

Nintendo Switch Battery Replacement

A worn battery replaced in the Switch, Switch OLED or Switch Lite. The battery is glued in on every model, so it's removed carefully and tested after fitting.

Switch Game Card Reader Replacement

A faulty game card reader replaced on the Switch, Switch OLED or Switch Lite. On the original and Lite it shares a part with the headphone jack, fixing both.

Nintendo Switch Fan Replacement

A noisy, rattling or failed cooling fan replaced in the Switch, Switch OLED or Switch Lite, with the vents and heatsink cleaned while it's open.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to send the dock or Joy-Cons with my Switch?
Only if the repair needs them. For a console repair, send the console on its own and keep the dock, Joy-Cons and charger at home. Take out the game card and microSD card before you pack it.
Will I lose my save data?
I repair your own console rather than swapping it, so your saves normally stay on its internal storage. Even so, back up what you can before a screen, battery or board repair, because any repair that involves the main board carries some risk to stored data.
Should I try Nintendo first for stick drift?
Yes, if you just want working sticks at no cost. Nintendo UK repairs Joy-Con and Switch Lite drift free, even out of warranty, until further notice. It can refuse if the controller has been opened or modified. My Hall effect upgrade is for people who'd rather have sticks that don't wear the same way.
Do you repair the Switch 2 as well?
Yes. The Switch 2 has its own section on the site because its hardware and prices are different. If it's still under Nintendo's warranty and the fault isn't accidental damage, go to Nintendo first.
More about Switch repairs

Send your Nintendo Switch to me by post and I'll repair it on my bench in Lancashire, test it and send it back insured and tracked. Every repair is done by me personally, and I've been repairing electronics for over 25 years. You pay the postage to me; the return is included.

Which Switch have you got? The model number is on the back of the console. The original Switch is HAC-001 (serial starting XA). The 2019 revised Switch, with better battery life, is HAC-001(-01) (serial starting XK). The Switch Lite is HDH-001 (serial starting XJ) and the Switch OLED is HEG-001 (serial starting XT). Prices differ by model, mainly for screens. If you're not sure, this guide shows you how to tell which Switch you have.

Stick drift. Joy-Con sticks use a small wiper sliding over a resistive track, and that track wears. Before you pay anyone, me included, it's worth knowing that Nintendo UK repairs Joy-Con and Switch Lite stick drift free of charge, even out of warranty, until further notice. Here's how Nintendo's free drift repair works. If you'd rather have sticks that don't wear the same way, I fit Hall effect sticks, which sense position with magnets instead of a sliding contact. There's the Joy-Con Hall effect upgrade and the Switch Lite stick drift upgrade, where the whole console comes to me because the sticks are built in.

Console faults. A loose, dead or intermittent USB-C port is a charging port replacement. A Switch that won't turn on, won't charge with a good port, shows no picture on the TV or sits on an orange or blue screen needs a no power and board fault repair, which starts with a £4.99 assessment. A cracked or dead display is a Switch screen replacement, Switch OLED screen replacement or Switch Lite screen replacement. Short battery life calls for a battery replacement. Games that won't load, or a dead headphone jack on the original or Lite, point to a game card reader replacement. A loud, rattling or overheating console needs a fan replacement.

Nintendo or an independent repairer? Nintendo caps its out-of-warranty repair prices at £120 for the Switch, £108 for the Lite and £190.50 for the OLED, and says a repair might take up to 10 working days. For comparison, my screen replacements are £85, £75 and £129, and a battery is £55 on any of the three. The bigger difference is what comes back. Nintendo's price list says the maximum price applies when the item is swapped for a replacement or re-manufactured product. Save data lives on the console's internal storage, so a swapped console comes back without it unless it was backed up to Save Data Cloud, which needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership and doesn't cover every game. I repair your own console and send that back. For a screen, battery or board job, back up what you can first; this guide explains how. There's a fuller comparison in Nintendo repair vs an independent repairer, and a price overview in what a Switch repair costs.

Got a Switch 2? It's different hardware, with a soldered game card reader and two soldered USB-C ports, so it has its own Switch 2 repair page.

No fix, no fee. If I can't repair your Switch, there's no repair fee: I refund what you paid, less return postage. The one exception is the £4.99 board fault assessment, which covers my time diagnosing the fault. Every completed repair comes with a 12-month warranty.
