Frequently asked questions

Does GHD repair straighteners?
No. GHD don't operate a repair service. Within warranty they replace faulty straighteners, and they don't publish an out-of-warranty repair service. So once the warranty has run out, the choice is between an independent repair and a new pair.
Which GHD models do you repair?
The Original 3.1b, Mk4 and Mk5 (including SS, MS and SC versions) are £29. The Gold, Max, Platinum+, Mini and Curve are £39. The round-button Eclipse and the original Platinum can only have their cable replaced, at £29.
Do you repair GHD hair dryers?
Some faults, yes, but get in touch before you book so I can tell you whether yours is repairable. I don't repair the GHD Air 2.0.
Is a repaired GHD safe to use?
Every mains repair is PAT tested before it goes back, and every repair has a 12-month warranty. If a straightener sparks, smells of burning or has a damaged cable, stop using it and get it looked at.
More about GHD repairs

A GHD that has stopped working is rarely finished. Most faults come down to one part that has worn or failed: a thermal fuse that has blown, a mains cable that has broken inside where it bends, or a component on the board that has aged. Replacing that part costs far less than a new pair, and I repair GHD straighteners by post from anywhere in the UK.

The most common repair is for GHDs that power on but won't heat up, usually a blown thermal fuse. The next is a dead GHD, or one that cuts out, usually the cable where it enters the iron. If you're not sure what's wrong, my GHD straightener repair service covers any fault on a repairable model. I find the fault and fix it.

The price is all-in: £29 for standard models, and £39 for the Gold, Max, Platinum+, Mini and Curve. It includes parts, labour, a PAT safety test and tracked return postage. You pay to post your GHDs to me. Every repair is covered by a 12-month warranty, and if I can't repair them, it's no fix, no fee: I refund what you paid, less return postage.

Most GHDs with a sliding on/off switch are repairable, however old they are. The Eclipse and the original Platinum (S8T261), with a round push-button, are sealed units that can't be repaired inside, but I can replace their mains cable. Not sure which model you have? How to find your GHD model number shows you where to look.

Before you post anything, the free checks are worth a look: why won't my GHD heat up, GHD won't turn on and why is my GHD beeping. For how my price compares, see how much GHD repair costs. For the whole route, from the warranty to posting them in, see how to get your GHDs repaired.
