How Much Does GHD Repair Cost in the UK? (2026)

If your GHDs have stopped working, the first question is usually the practical one: what's this going to cost me? It's a fair thing to want to know up front — and it's exactly the kind of thing that should be clear before you commit, not sprung on you afterwards. So here's a straight, no-nonsense answer on what GHD repair costs in the UK, what you should get for your money, and how to avoid the pricing games some places play.

I've been repairing electronics for over 25 years, so here's the honest picture.

The short answer: my prices

I keep pricing simple and transparent, because I think that's how it should be:

  • £29 all-in for standard GHD models (the Mk4, Mk5, 3.1b and similar).

  • £39 all-in for the newer premium models — the Gold, Max and Platinum+.

And "all-in" genuinely means all-in. That price includes the parts, the labour, return postage, and a full PAT safety test. There are no hidden charges, no "diagnosis fee" on top, and no "we'll tell you the price once we've got them" surprises. The price you see is the price you pay.

If you're not sure which model you've got — and therefore which price applies — my guide on how to find your GHD model number will tell you in seconds (the quick version: a sliding on/off switch means it's repairable; the price depends on whether it's a standard or a premium model).

What you should expect to be included

When you're comparing GHD repair prices, it's worth knowing what a fair, complete price should cover — because a cheap-looking headline figure isn't a bargain if the extras pile up. A proper all-in repair should include:

  • The replacement part (the thermal fuse, cable, heater element or whatever's failed).

  • The labour to diagnose and carry out the repair.

  • Return postage to get your straighteners back to you.

  • A PAT safety test, so you know they're electrically safe to use.

  • A warranty on the work.

With my service, all of that is in the single £29 or £39 price. Be a little wary of quotes that look cheaper at first glance but then add postage, parts, or a diagnosis fee separately — that's where a "£19 repair" can quietly become £35.

How that compares to a new pair

This is really the number that matters, because the alternative to repairing is replacing. A new pair of GHDs generally costs:

  • Around £100–£130 for a standard current model.

  • £150–£180+ for the premium Gold, Max and Platinum+ models.

So you're weighing roughly £29–£39 to repair against £100–£180 to replace. For what's usually a single small failed component on an otherwise perfectly good pair of straighteners, repairing is almost always the sensible choice — you can read more on whether it's worth repairing your GHDs here.

What about Dyson-style "service" fees?

It's worth a quick word on how the pricing compares to going back to a manufacturer. Some brands charge a flat "service" fee — often £99 or more — regardless of what's actually wrong, and won't always tell you if it's something minor. My approach is the opposite: a genuinely all-in fixed price that reflects a real repair, not a blanket service charge, and an honest answer if it turns out your straighteners aren't worth fixing.

What if it can't be fixed?

Here's where my pricing protects you: every repair is backed by a no-fix-no-fee promise. If I can't fix your straighteners, you don't pay for the repair. So there's genuinely no gamble in sending them in — worst case, you're no worse off; best case (and by far the most likely), you've got a working pair back for £29 or £39.

The only straighteners I can't help with are the sealed round-button Eclipse and Platinum (S8T261) models, which GHD designed to be unrepairable — I'll always tell you straight if that's what you've got, rather than take your money.

And the warranty

Your repair isn't just fixed and forgotten. Every repair comes with a 12-month warranty against the same fault returning — so the price you pay buys you a year's peace of mind, not just a quick fix. Combined with the PAT safety test and the no-fix-no-fee promise, that £29 or £39 is doing a lot of work.

In short

GHD repair in the UK should cost you a clear, all-in figure — with me, that's £29 for standard models or £39 for Gold, Max and Platinum+, including parts, postage, safety test and a 12-month warranty, with the no-fix-no-fee promise, so there's no risk. Against £100–£180 for a replacement, it's an easy decision for a fixable fault.
