Nintendo Switch OLED Screen Replacement
No fix, no fee · 12-month warranty · Insured, tracked returns
Signs you need this repair
- Cracked glass or a damaged display
- Lines, black patches or spreading dark areas
- Green or pink tint, or colour patches
- Touch not responding or registering in the wrong place
- No picture while sound still plays
The Switch OLED has an OLED panel rather than the LCD used in the original Switch and the Lite. OLED panels can be damaged by drops and pressure like any screen, and a cracked panel can develop lines or dark patches that spread over time. Sometimes the picture survives but the touch layer stops responding, or the display goes dark while sound carries on.
OLED costs more to replace for a simple reason: the OLED panel itself costs more than the LCD in the original and the Lite. That's why this repair is £129 rather than the £85 for the original Switch. I open the console, remove the damaged screen, fit a quality replacement panel and test the display and touch before it goes back.
Nintendo treats a broken screen as accidental damage, so it's always out of warranty. Its capped out-of-warranty price for the Switch OLED is £190.50, and that applies when the console is swapped for a replacement or re-manufactured unit. Save data lives on the console, so a swapped console comes back without it unless your saves were backed up to Save Data Cloud, which needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership and doesn't cover every game. I repair your own console and send that back.
Back up what you can before posting anyway; this guide to backing up Switch saves shows how. For a fuller cost comparison, see what a Switch OLED screen replacement costs.
If your console isn't an OLED, check the model number on the back. The original Switch has its own Switch screen replacement page.
