Dyson Supersonic Repair Assessment

Assessment £4.99

No fix, no fee · 12-month warranty · Insured, tracked returns

Signs you need this repair

  • Not sure what's wrong
  • More than one thing wrong with it
  • Stopped working with no warning
  • Been in a cupboard and won't start
  • Bought it used and it doesn't work properly

If you know what your Supersonic is doing, there's probably a fixed price for it, and booking that directly skips the quote step. Dead with no lights at all is £79. Runs and then cuts out is £85. Only works when you move the cable is £79. A dryer that works but isn't what it was is the £49 service.

This page is for everything else. You don't know what it's doing, it's doing more than one thing, or it's been in a cupboard for a while and you just want someone to look at it properly.

You pay £4.99 when you book, which covers the tracked return postage. I open it and check it on the bench — cable, switch, airflow, thermal protection, thermistor, motor and heater — and send you a quote with a straight answer on what's wrong, whether the part is available, and what it would cost. Nothing else happens until you say yes.

Go ahead and the £4.99 comes off the repair, with a 12-month warranty, a PAT safety test and insured tracked return postage included. Decide against it, or if it can't be repaired, I post it back and the £4.99 covers that postage.

One thing to check before you post anything. I repair the original round-body Supersonics and the Professional versions of them. The Supersonic r and the Travel use completely different internals with no independent parts supply yet, so I don't take them in. Put your model number into the selector above before booking.

Dyson Supersonic fully opened with the heater ring, motor and switch exposed, multimeter probes testing the wiring

Frequently asked questions

Why is there an assessment when your other repairs are fixed price?
Because I can price a fault I can identify. "Something's wrong" could be a clogged airway or a failed motor, and the only honest way to find out is to open it.
What if there's more than one fault?
I'll tell you about all of them and price them together. You decide what gets done.
What if I work out what's wrong after all?
Then book the fixed-price repair for that fault instead. It skips the quote step, and I'd rather you did.
What if I decide not to go ahead?
I post it back. The £4.99 covers the tracked return postage, so there's nothing more to pay.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll post it back, and the £4.99 you paid covers the tracked return postage. If you'd rather I recycled it responsibly, I'll refund the £4.99 in full.
