Signs your Galaxy A34 needs a repair
- Battery draining fast, or the phone shutting down early
- Back cover lifting at the edges (contact me before posting)
- Charger loose, or charging on and off
- Cracked or scuffed back cover
A Samsung Galaxy A34 battery replacement costs £59 by post, a charging port £49 and a back cover £49, each with genuine Samsung parts and a 12-month warranty. Samsung charges £79 for an A34 battery. Screen replacements aren't offered on the A34, because its fingerprint reader sits under the screen. The screen section below explains, and says where to go if your screen is broken.
The Galaxy A34 5G launched in March 2023 at £349. It has a 6.6-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, an under-screen fingerprint reader, a 5,000mAh battery, a plastic back and an IP67 water-resistance rating. It's a solid mid-range phone that's still inside Samsung's update period, which makes a battery or port repair an easy decision.
Which Galaxy A34 do I have?
The A34 was sold in the UK as a 5G phone. Its model number, SM-A346B, is in Settings > About phone. I'll ask for it when you book, and for your phone's colour if you're booking a back cover. This guide shows where to find it.
Galaxy A34 screen replacement
On the A34 the fingerprint reader is an optical sensor under the display. When the screen is replaced, the sensor is moved across to the new one, and Samsung's repair manuals for its newer under-screen fingerprint phones say it must then be calibrated with Samsung's own equipment. Without that step, the fingerprint reader may be unreliable or stop working altogether.
Samsung doesn't include the A34 in its Self-Repair programme, so the calibration is only available through Samsung's own repair network. For that reason I don't replace A34 screens: I'm not willing to return your phone with a fingerprint reader that might not work.
For a broken A34 screen, Samsung's recommended price is £139, and its repairers calibrate the fingerprint reader as part of the job. If you go to an independent repairer instead, ask them first whether they can calibrate the fingerprint reader, and what they'll do if it doesn't work afterwards. This guide covers the fingerprint problem in detail.
Galaxy A34 battery replacement
A34 batteries are now two to three years old, and many are starting to show it: shorter days, sudden shutdowns at 15 or 20%, or a phone that gets warm while charging. Samsung Members shows the battery's condition under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, and this guide explains what it's telling you.
The A34's back comes off with heat, because it's glued to the frame, and the battery underneath is glued too. I lift it out flat, without flexing the cell, fit a genuine Samsung battery, lay new adhesive for the back and check charging before the phone goes back. It's £59, against Samsung's £79. A battery job leaves the screen and fingerprint sensor alone, and the fingerprint reader is checked before it goes back.
A new battery restores battery life, but it won't speed up a slow phone. That's usually storage, apps or software, and this guide to fast battery drain helps you tell the difference.
A lifting back needs care. Some A34 owners have found the back cover lifting at the edges, and a swelling battery is a common cause. If yours is lifting, stop charging it and contact me before you post it.
Galaxy A34 charging port repair
The A34's USB-C port is on a small separate charging board at the bottom of the phone, so a worn or damaged port is fixed by fitting a new genuine board rather than soldering on the main board.
Try another cable and plug first, and look into the port with a torch for packed lint. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the other checks. If it still won't charge properly, the charging port repair is £49, and I test charging, fast charging and a data connection before it goes back.
Galaxy A34 back cover replacement
The A34 has a plastic back, glued to the frame. It scuffs and can crack at the corners, but it won't shatter like glass. I fit a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour and seal it with new adhesive. It's £49. The A34 is IP67-rated from new. Fresh adhesive reseals it as closely as I can, but I can't promise the rating afterwards, so keep it away from water after any repair.
Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A34?
Usually, yes. Samsung committed to five years of security updates for the A34, running to 2028, and a £59 battery or £49 port is a small cost against a phone that cost £349. This guide compares every Galaxy A model.
