Signs your Galaxy A35 needs a repair

  • Cracked or shattered back glass
  • Battery not lasting the day
  • Charger loose, or charging on and off
  • Cracked screen (coming soon: see the screen section)

A Samsung Galaxy A35 battery replacement costs £59 by post, a charging port £49 and back glass £49, all with genuine Samsung parts and a 12-month warranty. Screen replacement on the A35 is coming soon, at an expected £109 with a genuine Samsung screen. Samsung's own prices are £144 for an A35 screen and £79 for a battery.

The Galaxy A35 5G came out in March 2024 at £339, and it brought glass to both sides of a Samsung mid-ranger at that price: Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and a glass back. It has a 6.6-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED screen, an optical fingerprint reader under the display, a 5,000mAh battery and an IP67 water-resistance rating.

Which Galaxy A35 do I have?

The A35 is sold in the UK as a 5G phone, model number SM-A356B, which you'll find in Settings > About phone. I'll ask for it when you book, and for your phone's colour if you're booking back glass. This guide shows where to find it.

Galaxy A35 screen replacement

If you're here about a cracked A35 screen, here's exactly where it stands. The A35 reads your fingerprint through the screen, using an optical sensor mounted beneath the display. In a screen replacement that sensor is moved to the new screen, and Samsung's repair manuals for its newer under-screen fingerprint phones say it must then be calibrated with Samsung's own equipment. Skip that step and the fingerprint reader may be slow, unreliable or not work at all.

The A35 is part of Samsung's Self-Repair programme, which means the calibration can be done outside Samsung, using Samsung's Self Repair Assistant app and its calibration kit. I'm setting that equipment up so I can replace A35 screens properly, with the fingerprint reader calibrated. When it's ready, the expected price is £109 with a genuine Samsung screen, against Samsung's recommended £144.

If you need the screen fixed now, Samsung's repair service calibrates the fingerprint reader as part of the job. If you use an independent repairer, ask them first whether they calibrate the fingerprint reader afterwards. This guide explains the fingerprint problem in detail.

Lines or flicker rather than a crack? When the A35 first came out, some owners saw coloured lines or flickering on an undamaged screen. It was a software fault, and owners reported that a May 2024 update fixed it. If your screen isn't cracked, check for updates in Settings > Software update before assuming it's broken.

Galaxy A35 battery replacement

After two years of daily charging, an A35 battery will have lost some capacity. The signs are a phone that needs charging by the evening, shuts down with charge showing, or gets warm on the charger. Samsung Members shows the battery's condition under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, and this guide explains the result.

The A35's battery is reached through the glass back, which is warmed and lifted without cracking it. The battery is glued down too, so I free it without bending the cell, fit a genuine Samsung battery and reseal the back with new adhesive. Charging and the fingerprint reader are checked before it goes back, and the screen and sensor aren't disturbed. It's £59, against Samsung's £79. A new battery restores battery life, not speed, so if the phone is laggy, this guide to fast battery drain will help you find the real cause.

Galaxy A35 charging port repair

The A35's USB-C port is on a small separate charging board at the bottom of the phone, so a worn, loose or damaged port is fixed by fitting a new genuine board rather than soldering on the main board.

Try another cable and plug first, and check the port for lint with a torch. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest. If it still won't charge properly, the charging port repair is £49, and I test charging, fast charging and a data connection before the phone goes back.

Galaxy A35 back glass replacement

Glass on the back looks good and feels solid, but it cracks when the phone lands flat on a hard floor. Cracked back glass sheds splinters and lets dust in around the cameras. I remove the broken glass, clean off the old adhesive, fit a genuine Samsung back in your phone's colour and seal it with new adhesive. It's £49. This guide to cracked Galaxy A backs explains which models have glass. One thing to know about any A35 repair: it's IP67-rated from the factory, and once it has been opened I can't promise that still holds, even with new adhesive. Treat it as not water-resistant afterwards.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A35?

Yes, in most cases. Samsung committed to five years of security updates for the A35, into 2029, and it cost £339 new, so a £49 back or £59 battery is a small cost for a phone with plenty of life left. This guide compares every Galaxy A model.

Frequently asked questions

How much will a Galaxy A35 screen replacement cost?
It's coming soon at an expected £109, with a genuine Samsung screen and the fingerprint reader calibrated. Samsung's own recommended price is £144.
Why can't I book an A35 screen yet?
The A35's fingerprint reader sits under the screen, and Samsung requires it to be calibrated with its own equipment after a new screen. I'm setting that up so the fingerprint reader works properly afterwards, and I won't take screen bookings until it's in place.
My A35 screen has coloured lines but isn't cracked. Is it broken?
Possibly not. Some A35s showed coloured lines or flicker at launch, and owners reported that a May 2024 software update fixed it. Update the phone first.
How much does a Galaxy A35 battery replacement cost?
£59 by post, with a genuine Samsung battery and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own price is £79.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
