Signs your Galaxy A14 needs a repair

  • Cracked glass, lines or patches on the screen

  • Battery draining fast or the phone shutting down early
  • Charger loose, or charging only when the cable is held
  • Cracked back cover

A Samsung Galaxy A14 screen replacement costs £79 by post, for the 4G or 5G version, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. A battery is £49, a charging port £49 and a back cover £39. Samsung's own recommended price for an A14 screen is £124, and £79 for a battery.

The Galaxy A14 launched in the UK in 2023 in two versions, and it matters which one you have. The A14 5G and the 4G A14 look alike, but they take different screens and different charging boards. Both have a 6.6-inch LCD screen, a 5,000mAh battery, a plastic back and the fingerprint reader in the power key.

Touchscreen stopped working after an update? Read this before paying anyone for a screen. After the One UI 7 update, A14 owners reported touchscreens that stopped responding or responded in the wrong place, on both the 4G and 5G. Many A14 owners have reported it, and it's a software fault, not a broken screen. If your A14's touch went wrong straight after an update and the glass isn't damaged, try these fixes first, and contact me before booking a screen.

Which Galaxy A14 do I have?

Go to Settings > About phone and check the model number. In the UK, SM-A146P is the Galaxy A14 5G and SM-A145R is the 4G Galaxy A14. Because the two take different screens and charging boards, I need the model number when you book, along with your phone's colour for a back cover. This guide shows where to find it.

Galaxy A14 screen replacement

Both A14 versions use an LCD panel under the glass. After a drop you might see cracked glass with a working picture, spreading black patches, coloured lines, or a black screen while the phone still rings. Touch can also fail in one area, usually where the glass has cracked.

I fit a genuine Samsung screen for your version. On the A14 5G it comes as a service part already fitted in its frame. The genuine A14 4G screen comes without a frame, so it's bonded into your phone's own frame with new adhesive. Copy screens for the A14 are cheap and plentiful, and the usual giveaways are a dimmer picture and less accurate touch. This guide explains how to tell genuine from aftermarket.

The fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Before the phone goes back, I test touch across the whole screen, the display and brightness, the front camera, the earpiece and the proximity sensor, and check the fingerprint reader.

It's £79 for either version. Samsung's recommended price is £124, and this guide compares screen prices across the Galaxy A range. If the glass is cracked but the phone still works, don't leave it too long: cracks spread, and broken glass can let the LCD underneath fail.

Galaxy A14 battery replacement

The A14's 5,000mAh battery gave it good battery life when new, which makes a worn one all the more noticeable. Signs are a phone that's flat by mid-afternoon, shuts down with charge showing, or gets warm while charging. You can check its condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status. This guide explains what it's telling you.

On the A14 5G, the plastic back is clipped in place, and the battery underneath is glued. I release the battery adhesive without bending the cell, fit a genuine Samsung battery and test charging before it goes back. It's £49 on either version, against Samsung's £79.

A new battery brings back battery life. It won't fix a phone that's slow or laggy, which is usually storage, apps or software. This guide to fast battery drain helps you tell the difference.

Galaxy A14 charging port repair

On both A14 versions the USB-C port is on a small separate charging board at the bottom of the phone, not soldered to the main board, and the 4G and 5G boards are different parts. A worn, loose or damaged port is fixed by fitting a new genuine charging board for your version.

Check the simple things first. Try another cable and plug, and look into the port with a torch for lint packed into the bottom, which stops the plug going in all the way. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest.

If it still won't charge properly, the charging port repair is £49. I test charging, fast charging and a data connection before it goes back.

Galaxy A14 back cover replacement

The A14 has a plastic back. It won't shatter like glass, but it can crack or split at the corners, and a cracked back can let dust and grit in around the camera. I replace it with a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour. It's £39. The A14 has no water-resistance rating.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A14?

For a battery or charging port, usually yes: £49 keeps a working phone going for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Samsung committed to four years of security updates for the A14, which runs to around 2027, so it has some supported life left. A £79 screen is a bigger decision on an older budget phone, so weigh it against how long you want to keep it. This guide looks at every Galaxy A model.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Galaxy A14 screen replacement cost?
£79 by post for the A14 or A14 5G, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own recommended price is £124.
My A14 touchscreen stopped working after an update. Is the screen broken?
Probably not, if the glass is undamaged and it started straight after an update. Many A14 owners reported touch problems after the One UI 7 update, and it's a software fault rather than a broken screen. Check for software updates and contact me before booking. A screen replacement is for damaged glass or a display that's failed.
Are the A14 and A14 5G screens the same?
No. The two versions take different screens and different charging boards, which is why I need the model number when you book.
Will my fingerprint still work after a new screen?
Yes. The A14's fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a screen replacement doesn't affect it.
Is it worth replacing the battery in an A14?
Usually. At £49 it costs far less than a new phone, and the A14 is still inside the security update period Samsung committed to.
My A14 is still under Samsung's warranty. Should I use you?
If the fault isn't damage, go to Samsung first, because a repair by anyone else ends Samsung's warranty. For a cracked screen or other damage, compare Samsung's price with mine.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
