Signs your Galaxy A25 needs a repair

  • Battery flat by the afternoon, or dropping suddenly
  • Charger loose, or charging on and off
  • Cracked or split back cover

A Samsung Galaxy A25 screen replacement costs £99 by post, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. A battery is £59, a charging port £49 and a back cover £39. Samsung's own recommended price for an A25 screen is £129, and £79 for a battery.

The Galaxy A25 5G launched at the end of 2023, a step up from the A1x phones with a smoother 120Hz Super AMOLED screen. It has a 6.5-inch display, a 5,000mAh battery, a glued plastic back and the fingerprint reader in the power key, and it has no water-resistance rating.

Which Galaxy A25 do I have?

In the UK the A25 was sold as a 5G phone only. Its model number, in Settings > About phone, is SM-A256B. Please give it when you book, along with your phone's colour if you're booking a back cover, because genuine backs are colour-matched. This guide shows where to find it.

Galaxy A25 screen replacement

The A25's 120Hz AMOLED panel is one of the reasons people choose it over an A15. When the phone's dropped, that panel can crack with the glass or fail behind it: green or pink lines, black patches that spread from a crack, or a black screen while calls still come through. Touch can also stop working where the glass is broken.

I fit a genuine Samsung screen, supplied as a service part already fitted in its frame. Copy screens for the A25 are widely sold, and the cheaper ones swap the AMOLED panel for an LCD one, losing the deep blacks and some of the smoothness. This guide explains how to tell genuine from aftermarket.

The fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Before the phone goes back, I test touch across the whole screen, the display for lines and tint, brightness, the front camera, the earpiece and the proximity sensor.

It's £99. Samsung's recommended price is £129, and this guide compares prices for every Galaxy A.

Galaxy A25 battery replacement

The A25's 5,000mAh battery was one of its strengths when new. After a couple of years it holds less, and the signs are a phone that won't last the day, shuts down with charge left, or gets warm on the charger. You can check its condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, and this guide explains what it means.

Getting to the A25's battery means warming and lifting the glued plastic back. The battery is stuck down as well, so I release it without flexing the cell, fit a genuine Samsung battery, lay fresh adhesive for the back and test charging before it goes back. It's £59, against Samsung's £79.

A new battery restores battery life, but not speed. If the phone is slow or laggy, that's usually storage, apps or software, and this guide to fast battery drain helps you tell which you're dealing with.

Galaxy A25 charging port repair

The A25's USB-C port is on a small separate charging board at the bottom of the phone, not soldered to the main board. A loose, worn or damaged port is fixed by fitting a new genuine charging board.

Before booking, try another cable and plug, and check the port for packed-in lint with a torch. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge covers the rest. If it's still unreliable, the charging port repair is £49, and I test charging, fast charging and a data connection before it goes back.

Galaxy A25 back cover replacement

The A25 has a glued plastic back, so a drop is more likely to crack or split it than shatter it. I fit a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour and seal it with new adhesive. It's £39.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A25?

Usually, yes. Samsung committed to five years of security updates for the A25, to around the end of 2028, and it launched at £249, so a £59 battery or £99 screen is good value for a phone with that much supported life left. This guide compares every Galaxy A model.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Galaxy A25 screen replacement cost?
£99 by post, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own recommended price for an A25 screen is £129.
Why is the A25 screen dearer than the A15's?
The A25 has a 120Hz AMOLED screen and the genuine part costs more, so the repair is £99 rather than £79.
Will my fingerprint still work after a new screen?
Yes. The A25's fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a screen replacement doesn't affect it.
Is the A25 waterproof?
No. The A25 has no water-resistance rating, so keep it away from water before and after any repair. I don't repair water-damaged phones.
Can I replace the A25 battery myself?
The A25 is part of Samsung's Self-Repair programme, which sells genuine parts with a repair guide. The back and battery are glued, so it takes heat, care and new adhesive to do properly.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
