A Samsung Galaxy A22 screen replacement costs £79 by post, for the A22 5G or the 4G A22, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. A battery is £49, a charging port £49 and a back cover £39. Samsung's own recommended price for an A22 5G screen is £129, and £79 for a battery.

There are two Galaxy A22s, and they're more different than the names suggest. The A22 5G, launched in the UK in summer 2021 at £199, has a 6.6-inch LCD screen. The 4G Galaxy A22 has a smaller 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen and a different battery. Both have a 5,000mAh battery, a plastic back, a headphone jack and the fingerprint reader in the power key.

Which Galaxy A22 do I have?

Go to Settings > About phone and check the model number. SM-A226B is the Galaxy A22 5G, the version Samsung sold in the UK. SM-A225F is the 4G Galaxy A22, which reached the UK mostly as an import. The two take different screens, batteries and charging boards, so I'll ask for the model number when you book, along with your phone's colour for a back cover. This guide shows where to find it.

Galaxy A22 screen replacement

On the A22 5G the screen is an LCD panel; on the 4G A22 it's an AMOLED panel. They fail differently. An LCD tends to show black ink-like patches or coloured lines after a knock while the backlight carries on. An AMOLED tends to show a bright green or pink line, a spreading black blot, or go black altogether while the phone still rings. On either, touch can stop working along a crack.

I fit a genuine Samsung screen for your version, supplied as a service part already fitted in its frame. Copy screens for the 4G A22 often swap the AMOLED panel for a cheaper LCD one, which looks greyer and can use more battery. This guide explains how to tell a genuine screen from a copy.

The fingerprint reader is in the power key on both versions, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Before the phone goes back, I test touch across the whole screen, the display and brightness, the front camera, the earpiece and the proximity sensor, and check the fingerprint reader.

It's £79 for either version. Samsung's recommended price for an A22 5G screen is £129, and this guide compares screen prices across the Galaxy A range.

Galaxy A22 battery replacement

An A22 battery that's been charged daily since 2021 will have lost a good share of its capacity. The signs are a phone that needs charging twice a day, drops off at 20%, or gets warm on the charger. You can check its condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status. This guide explains what the result means.

I take off the plastic back, release the battery adhesive without bending the cell, and fit a genuine Samsung 5,000mAh battery for your version. Charging is tested before the phone goes back. It's £49 on either version, against Samsung's £79. A new battery brings back battery life, not speed, so if the phone has become laggy, this guide to fast battery drain helps you find the cause. If it won't turn on at all, start with these checks.

Galaxy A22 charging port repair

On both A22 versions the USB-C port is on a small charging board at the bottom of the phone, and that board also carries the headphone jack and the microphone. A genuine replacement board fixes a worn or loose port, and also a dead headphone jack or a microphone callers can't hear, when the fault is on that board. The 4G and 5G boards are different parts.

Check the easy things first: another cable and plug, and a look into the port with a torch for packed lint. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest. If it still won't charge properly, the charging port repair is £49, and I test charging, the headphone jack, the microphone and a data connection before it goes back.

Galaxy A22 back cover replacement

Both A22 versions have a plastic back. It can crack at the corners or split near the camera after a drop, letting dust and grit in. I replace it with a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour. It's £39. Neither version has a water-resistance rating.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A22?

For a battery or charging port, often yes, if you're happy with the phone. Samsung ended security updates for the A22 in 2025, so it no longer gets fixes for new security threats, and that's worth weighing if you use it for banking. It still works, and a £49 repair costs far less than a replacement. A £79 screen is a bigger decision on a phone this age. This guide explains what the end of updates means, and this one weighs up every model.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Galaxy A22 screen replacement cost?
£79 by post for the A22 5G or the 4G A22, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own recommended price for the A22 5G is £129.
Are the A22 and A22 5G screens the same?
No. The A22 5G has a 6.6-inch LCD screen and the 4G A22 a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, and they aren't interchangeable. I fit the right one for your model number.
My A22's headphone jack stopped working. Can you fix it?
Usually. The headphone jack is on the same small board as the charging port and microphone, so the charging port repair replaces all three. I check the fault when the phone arrives.
Will my fingerprint still work after a new screen?
Yes. On both A22 versions the fingerprint reader is in the power key, not under the screen.
Does the A22 still get updates?
No. Samsung ended security updates for the A22 in 2025. The phone still works, but it no longer receives fixes for new security threats.
My phone's back is lifting. What should I do?
Stop charging it and contact me before posting it. A back that's lifting is often caused by a swollen battery, which needs handling carefully.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
