A Samsung Galaxy A23 5G screen replacement costs £79 by post, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. A battery is £49, a charging port £49 and a back cover £39. Samsung's own recommended price for an A23 5G screen is £114, and £79 for a battery.

The Galaxy A23 5G went on sale in the UK in September 2022 at £289. It has a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate under Gorilla Glass 5, a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, a plastic back, a headphone jack and the fingerprint reader in the power key. Samsung still includes it in its security updates, so an A23 5G with a broken screen or tired battery is well worth keeping going.

Which Galaxy A23 do I have?

Go to Settings > About phone and check the model number. The Galaxy A23 5G sold in the UK is SM-A236B, and that's the phone this page covers. There's also a 4G Galaxy A23 (SM-A235F), a different phone sold mainly outside the UK. If yours is the 4G, get in touch before booking. I'll ask for your model number and your phone's colour when you book. This guide shows where to find them.

Galaxy A23 screen replacement

The A23 5G's screen is an LCD panel with the touch layer bonded to the glass. Gorilla Glass 5 helps, but a drop onto a hard floor still cracks it, and damage can reach the LCD underneath: black patches, coloured lines, flicker, or a black screen while the phone still rings. A crack across the bottom of the screen often takes touch out in that area too.

I fit a genuine Samsung screen, supplied as a service part already fitted in its frame, so your phone keeps its 120Hz refresh rate and its original brightness. Some copy screens for the A23 run at a lower refresh rate or look noticeably dimmer. This guide explains how to tell a genuine screen from a copy.

The fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Before the phone goes back, I test touch across the whole screen, the display and brightness, the front camera, the earpiece and the proximity sensor, and check the fingerprint reader.

It's £79. Samsung's recommended price for an A23 5G screen is £114, and this guide compares screen prices across the Galaxy A range.

Galaxy A23 battery replacement

After three or four years of daily charging, the A23's 5,000mAh battery holds noticeably less than it did. You'll see it as a phone that needs a top-up by mid-afternoon, drops off with charge showing, or runs warm while charging. You can check its condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status. This guide explains the result.

I take off the plastic back, release the battery adhesive without bending the cell, fit a genuine Samsung battery and test charging and fast charging before the phone goes back. It's £49, against Samsung's £79. Here's why a genuine battery matters.

A new battery restores battery life. It won't fix a phone that's become slow, which is usually storage, apps or software. This guide to fast battery drain helps you tell which you've got.

Galaxy A23 charging port repair

The A23 5G's USB-C port isn't soldered to the main board: it's on a small charging board at the bottom of the phone, which also carries the headphone jack. A genuine replacement board fixes a worn, loose or damaged port, and a headphone jack that's stopped working when the fault is on that board.

Before booking, try another cable and plug, and check the port for lint with a torch. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest. If it still won't charge reliably, the charging port repair is £49, and I test charging, fast charging, the headphone jack and a data connection before it goes back.

Galaxy A23 back cover replacement

The A23 5G has a plastic back. It's more likely to crack or split than shatter, but a damaged back lets dust in around the camera. I replace it with a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour. It's £39. The A23 5G has no water-resistance rating.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A23?

Usually, yes. The A23 5G is still on Samsung's list of phones that receive security updates, although its last major Android version was Android 14. A £49 battery or port, or a £79 screen, costs far less than a comparable new phone. This guide compares every Galaxy A model.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Galaxy A23 screen replacement cost?
£79 by post, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own recommended price for the A23 5G is £114.
Will a new screen keep the 120Hz refresh rate?
Yes. I fit a genuine Samsung screen, which runs at the A23 5G's full 120Hz. Some copy screens don't.
Will my fingerprint still work after a new screen?
Yes. The A23's fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a screen replacement doesn't affect it.
Do you repair the 4G Galaxy A23?
The 4G A23 (SM-A235F) is a different phone with different parts, sold mainly outside the UK. Get in touch before booking and I'll tell you what I can do.
Does the A23 5G still get updates?
It still receives Samsung's security updates, on Samsung's quarterly schedule. Its last major Android version was Android 14.
My phone's back is lifting. What should I do?
Stop charging it and contact me before posting it. A back that's lifting is often caused by a swollen battery, which needs handling carefully.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
