  • Charger loose, or charging only at an angle

  • Cracked or broken back cover

A Samsung Galaxy A12 screen replacement costs £79 by post, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. A battery is £49, a charging port £49 and a back cover £39. Samsung's own recommended price for an A12 screen is £119, and £79 for a battery.

The Galaxy A12 went on sale in the UK in January 2021 at £169, and it sold in huge numbers as one of the cheapest Samsung phones you could buy. It has a 6.5-inch LCD screen, a 5,000mAh battery, a plastic back, a headphone jack and a fingerprint reader in the power key. Samsung later made a revised A12 with a different processor inside, and the two versions take some different parts, so the model number matters when you book.

Which Galaxy A12 do I have?

Go to Settings > About phone and check the model number. The original Galaxy A12 is SM-A125F. The later revision, sometimes called the A12 "Nacho", is SM-A127F. They look almost identical, but their screens and charging boards are different parts, so I'll ask for the model number when you book, along with your phone's colour for a back cover. This guide shows where to find it.

Galaxy A12 screen replacement

The A12's screen is an LCD panel with the touch layer bonded to the glass. A drop can crack the glass while the picture carries on, or damage the LCD behind it: black patches that spread, coloured lines, or a black screen while the phone still rings and vibrates. Touch sometimes stops working in a strip along a crack.

I fit a genuine Samsung screen for your version, supplied as a service part already fitted in its frame. Copy A12 screens are everywhere, and the usual giveaways are a dimmer, colder picture and touch that misses the edges. This guide explains how to tell a genuine screen from a copy.

The fingerprint reader is in the power key, so a new screen doesn't affect it. Before the phone goes back, I test touch across the whole screen, the display and brightness, the front camera, the earpiece and the proximity sensor, and check the fingerprint reader.

It's £79 for either version. Samsung's recommended price for an A12 screen is £119, and this guide compares screen prices across the Galaxy A range.

Galaxy A12 battery replacement

Most A12s have been charged every day for four years or more, and their batteries show it: flat by the afternoon, shutting down with charge showing, or only working on the charger. You can check its condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status. This guide explains what the result means.

The A12's plastic back comes off first, and the battery underneath is glued firmly in place. I release the adhesive carefully without bending the cell, fit a genuine Samsung 5,000mAh battery and test charging before the phone goes back. The same genuine battery fits both A12 versions. It's £49, against Samsung's £79.

A new battery restores battery life. It won't make an A12 faster: the A12 was built to a tight budget, and reviewers found it slow even when new. If yours feels sluggish, that's the phone's processor and memory, not the battery. This guide to fast battery drain helps you separate the two, and if your A12 won't switch on at all, try these steps first.

Galaxy A12 charging port repair

On the A12 the USB-C port sits on a small charging board at the bottom of the phone, and that board also carries the headphone jack and the microphone. So a new charging board fixes a worn or loose port, and it also fixes a dead headphone jack or a microphone callers can't hear, when the fault is on that board. The two A12 versions use different boards, which is another reason I ask for the model number.

Before booking, try another cable and plug, and look into the port with a torch. Four years of pocket lint can pack down hard enough to stop the plug seating. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through each step.

If it still won't charge reliably, the charging port repair is £49 with a genuine Samsung board for your version. I test charging, the headphone jack, the microphone and a data connection before it goes back.

Galaxy A12 back cover replacement

The A12 has a plastic back. It won't shatter, but it cracks at the corners and splits around the camera after a drop, and a broken back lets dust in. I replace it with a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour. It's £39. The A12 has no water-resistance rating.

Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A12?

It depends on the repair. Samsung stopped security updates for the A12 in early 2025, so it no longer gets fixes for new security threats. That doesn't stop it working, and plenty of A12s make good second phones or phones for children and older relatives. A £49 battery or charging port is sensible if you're happy with the phone. A £79 screen is a bigger share of what an A12 is worth now, so compare it with a newer budget phone first. This guide explains what the end of updates means, and this one weighs up every model.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Galaxy A12 screen replacement cost?
£79 by post for either version, with a genuine Samsung screen and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own recommended price is £119.
What's the difference between the SM-A125F and SM-A127F?
The SM-A127F is a later revision of the A12 with a different processor. They look the same, but the screens and charging boards are different parts, which is why I need the model number when you book. The battery is the same.
My A12's headphone jack stopped working. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. The headphone jack is on the same small board as the charging port and microphone, so the charging port repair replaces all three. I check the fault when the phone arrives and tell you if it's anything else.
Will a new battery make my A12 faster?
No. A new battery restores battery life, but the A12's speed is set by its processor and memory. Freeing up storage and removing apps you don't use helps more.
Does the A12 still get updates?
No. Samsung ended security updates for the A12 in early 2025. The phone still works, but it no longer receives fixes for new security threats.
My phone's back is lifting. What should I do?
Stop charging it and contact me before posting it. A back that's lifting is often caused by a swollen battery, which needs handling carefully.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
