A Samsung Galaxy A52 battery replacement costs £59 by post, a charging port £59 and a back cover £49, all with genuine Samsung parts and a 12-month warranty. Samsung's own price for an A52 5G battery is £79. I don't offer screen replacements on the A52, because of how its fingerprint reader works. The screen section below explains why, and where to go instead.
The Galaxy A52 5G went on sale in the UK in March 2021 at £399, and it's still one of the most-used mid-range Samsungs around. It has a 6.5-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED screen with the fingerprint reader underneath, a 4,500mAh battery with 25W charging, a plastic back, a headphone jack and an IP67 water-resistance rating. The 4G Galaxy A52 is the same phone with a 90Hz screen and no 5G, and it shares the same screen, battery and charging board.
Which Galaxy A52 do I have?
Go to Settings > About phone and check the model number. SM-A526B is the Galaxy A52 5G, the version Samsung sold in the UK. SM-A525F is the 4G Galaxy A52, which reached the UK as an import. Both are covered here and take the same battery and charging board. The Galaxy A52s (SM-A528B) is a different phone with its own page. I'll ask for the model number when you book, and your phone's colour for a back cover. This guide shows where to find it.
Galaxy A52 screen replacement
The A52's fingerprint reader is an optical sensor beneath the display. It's calibrated to the screen it sits under, and after a new screen it needs recalibrating with Samsung's own equipment. The A52 isn't part of Samsung's Self-Repair programme, so that calibration isn't available to independent repairers, and that's why I don't replace A52 screens. I'd rather tell you now than send your phone back with a fingerprint reader that may not work.
If your A52 screen is broken, Samsung's recommended price for an A52 5G screen is £139, and its repair service calibrates the fingerprint reader as part of the job. If you'd rather use another repairer, ask whether the screen is genuine and whether they can calibrate the fingerprint reader, and what happens if it doesn't work afterwards. This guide explains the fingerprint problem in more detail.
Fingerprint reader asking for calibration, on an undamaged screen? Several A52 owners reported the fingerprint reader stopping working, or asking for calibration, after a software update in 2022. If your screen is the original, delete and re-register your fingerprints and check for updates before assuming anything's broken.
Galaxy A52 battery replacement
By now most A52 batteries have been charged well over a thousand times, and they show it: charging twice a day, switching off with charge left, getting warm on the charger. You can check its condition in Samsung Members under Support > Phone diagnostics > Battery status, and this guide explains the result.
The A52's plastic back is glued to the frame, and the battery underneath is glued too. I soften the back's adhesive with heat, lift it off, work the battery out without bending it, fit a genuine Samsung 4,500mAh battery and reseal the back with new adhesive. The battery sits behind the screen assembly, so the job doesn't touch the screen or the fingerprint sensor, and I check the fingerprint reader before the phone goes back. It's £59, against Samsung's £79.
A new battery restores battery life. It won't make the phone faster, because lag is usually storage, apps or software. This guide to fast battery drain helps you tell which you've got.
If the back is lifting, stop and contact me first. A back that's lifting away from the phone can be failing adhesive, but it can also be a battery that has started to swell. Don't keep charging it, and contact me before posting it.
Galaxy A52 charging port repair
The A52's USB-C port sits on a small charging board at the bottom of the phone, together with the headphone jack and the lower microphone. A genuine replacement board fixes a worn, loose or damaged port, and also a dead headphone jack or a microphone callers can't hear, when the fault is on that board. The same board fits the A52 and A52 5G.
Before booking, try another cable and plug, and check the port for lint with a torch. The A52 is water-resistant, so if it says moisture has been detected, let it dry fully and try again. This checklist for a Galaxy A that won't charge goes through the rest. If it still won't charge reliably, the charging port repair is £59, and I test charging, fast charging, the headphone jack, the microphone and a data connection before it goes back.
Galaxy A52 back cover replacement
The A52 has a plastic back with a matte finish, glued to the frame. It's more likely to crack or split than shatter, and on an IP67 phone a damaged back also means the seal has gone. I fit a genuine Samsung back cover in your phone's colour and seal it with new adhesive. It's £49. I reseal every back with new adhesive, but once a phone has been opened I can't promise it keeps its IP67 rating, so treat it as not water-resistant after any repair.
Is it worth repairing a Galaxy A52?
For a battery, often yes. The A52 was a £399 phone and its screen, cameras and speakers still hold up well. Samsung ended security updates for it in 2025, so it no longer gets fixes for new security threats, and that's worth weighing if you bank or pay on it. A £59 battery can still give it a good while longer as an everyday phone. A Samsung screen at £139 is harder to justify. This guide explains what the end of updates means, and this one weighs up every model.
