About this controller

This is a pre-owned Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series X|S (Model 1914) that I've refurbished and tested on my bench. It's a genuine Microsoft controller. During refurbishment some parts may have been replaced with quality aftermarket parts, and everything is tested before it's listed.

It works with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, and it pairs over Bluetooth with compatible phones and tablets. It runs on 2 AA batteries, which are included, or a compatible rechargeable battery pack, and you can play wired over USB-C.

About the sticks

This controller has standard sticks, the type Microsoft fits as standard. I only list one if both sticks pass my Stick Drift Test cleanly, so it isn't drifting when it leaves me. Standard sticks wear over time, which is the main cause of drift. If you'd rather have that problem engineered out, I sell this controller with Hall effect or TMR sticks fitted, with a 12-month warranty.

What I've done to it

  • Opened and cleaned the controller inside and out, including the buttons, bumpers and triggers.

  • Checked both sticks on my Stick Drift Test.

  • Cleaned and checked the battery contacts, as corrosion is common on used Xbox controllers.

  • Replaced any worn or faulty parts.

  • Tested everything before listing it.

How it's tested

  • Real-game test

Every controller is played on a real game before it's listed, so the sticks, triggers and buttons are tested the way you'll actually use them.

  • Stick Drift Test

I run both sticks through my Stick Drift Test, the same free tool you can use at home, to check each stick settles back to centre.

  • Every function checked

I check A, B, X and Y, both bumpers, both triggers including the impulse trigger rumble, the D-pad, the View, Menu, Share and Xbox buttons, pairing, both main rumble motors, the 3.5mm headset jack, USB-C and Bluetooth.

Grades

Grades describe how the shell looks, nothing else. Every grade gets the same sticks, the same testing and the same 6-month warranty.

Cosmetic only

Excellent

Very light signs of use at most. You might spot a faint mark on the shell if you look closely.

Good

Visible signs of use, such as light scratches or scuffs on the shell. It works the same as Excellent: same sticks, same testing, same warranty.

6-month warranty

Your controller is covered for 6 months from delivery. If it develops a fault in that time, including stick drift, tell me and I'll repair it. I'll cover the postage. If I can't repair it, I'll replace it or refund you. The warranty doesn't cover accidental damage, liquid damage, or a controller that's been opened or repaired by someone else.

It's on top of your rights under consumer law, not instead of them.

Delivery & returns

Royal Mail Tracked 48 is free, or choose Tracked 24 (£3) or Special Delivery (£11). UK addresses only. I'll email you the tracking number when it's on its way.

Ships within 1 working day. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.

Changed your mind? You can cancel within 14 days of delivery, for any reason. Tell me, then send it back in the condition you received it. You pay the return postage, and I refund what you paid, including the standard delivery.

Faulty? If it arrives faulty, or develops a fault under warranty, tell me and I'll arrange the return at my cost.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a genuine Microsoft controller?
Yes, it's a genuine Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series X|S. As part of refurbishment, some parts may have been replaced with quality aftermarket parts. Everything is tested before it's listed.
Will it drift?
Not when it leaves me: I only list one if both sticks pass my Stick Drift Test cleanly. Standard sticks wear over time, though, and that wear is the main cause of drift. If a stick starts to drift within the 6-month warranty, tell me and I'll repair it. If you'd rather have that problem engineered out, I also sell this controller with Hall effect or TMR sticks fitted, which read position magnetically and are far less likely to drift.
Is it used or new?
It's a used Microsoft controller, sometimes called second-hand or pre-owned, that I've refurbished. That's different from buying used as-is: I've opened it, cleaned it, cleaned the battery contacts, checked both sticks and tested everything, and it comes with a 6-month warranty.
Does it work with Xbox One and PC?
Yes. It works with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, and it pairs over Bluetooth with compatible phones and tablets. For wired play, use a USB-C cable.
What batteries does it use?
It runs on 2 AA batteries, which are included. You can also use a compatible rechargeable battery pack, or play wired over USB-C.
What's the difference between Excellent and Good?
Only how it looks. Excellent has very light signs of use at most; Good has visible marks, such as light scratches on the shell. Both get the same sticks, the same testing and the same 6-month warranty.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes. You can cancel within 14 days of delivery, for any reason. You pay the return postage, and I refund what you paid, including the standard delivery. If it's faulty, I cover the cost of sending it back.
When will it be posted?
Ships within 1 working day, by Royal Mail, and I'll email you the tracking number. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
Can you fit Hall effect sticks to it later?
Yes. Whenever you like, you can post it to me and I'll fit Hall effect sticks, the same upgrade I do on customers' own Xbox controllers. The link to that repair is under Related repairs and reading on this page.
Do you sell Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers?
No. I don't sell or repair the Elite Series 2. If yours is drifting, check its warranty with Microsoft first: Microsoft runs its own service for it. My article on Elite Series 2 drift, under Related repairs and reading on this page, goes through your options.
