Why buy from me

Why the sticks matter

Standard sticks measure position with contacts that wear as they move, which is what causes most stick drift. Hall effect and TMR sticks read the stick's position with magnets instead, so there's far less to wear out and drift is far less likely to come back. Every controller is drift-tested before it's listed; if you want the problem engineered out, choose one with upgraded sticks.

Warranty and returns

Up to 12 months' warranty, depending on the controller, and free tracked delivery in the UK. If you change your mind, you can cancel within 14 days of delivery and send it back at your own cost. If something's wrong with it, I'll put it right and cover the postage.

Frequently asked questions

Are refurbished Xbox controllers any good?
A good one is, and the difference is what's been done to it. Every Xbox controller I sell has been opened, cleaned inside and out, had its battery contacts cleaned and checked, had both sticks checked on my Stick Drift Test and been played on a real game before it's listed, and it comes with a warranty. A used controller sold as it is can come with worn sticks or corroded battery contacts that you only find out about after you've paid.
Will a Series X|S controller work on Xbox One?
Yes. The Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series X|S works with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Windows PC, and it pairs over Bluetooth with compatible phones and tablets. For wired play it uses a USB-C cable.
What's the difference between standard, Hall effect and TMR sticks?
Standard sticks read their position through contacts that wear as the stick moves, and that wear is the main cause of drift. Hall effect and TMR sticks both read position magnetically, so there's far less to wear out and drift is far less likely to come back. TMR uses a finer sensor than Hall effect. The comparison on this page sets out the warranty and price of each.
How much is a second-hand Xbox controller worth?
It depends on its condition and on the sticks. A used controller sold as it is usually costs well under the price of a new one, but you're taking a chance on the sticks and the battery contacts. A refurbished one sits between the two: it costs more than an untested used controller and less than new, and it's been checked, tested and covered by a warranty. My prices are on each controller above.
Why do Xbox controllers drift?
Mostly wear. The standard sticks measure position with a resistive track and a wiper, and as that track wears, the reading wanders, so the stick reports movement you didn't make. Dirt inside the stick can make it worse. Hall effect and TMR sticks don't rely on that contact, which is why drift is far less likely to come back with them.
Do you include batteries?
Yes. Each controller comes with 2 AA batteries. It also works with a compatible rechargeable battery pack, or wired over USB-C.
What warranty do I get, and can I return it?
Each controller has its own warranty, shown on its page, of up to 12 months, and it covers faults including stick drift. You can also cancel within 14 days of delivery, for any reason. You pay the return postage, and I refund what you paid, including the standard delivery.
When will it be posted?
Ships within 1 working day, by Royal Mail, and I'll email you the tracking number. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
