Xbox Series X & S No Power Repair

£129

No fix, no fee · 12-month warranty · Insured, tracked returns

Signs you need this repair

  • Completely dead: no light and no sound
  • It switches on, then straight off again
  • It stopped working after a power cut or a surge
  • The power button lights but the console won't start
  • It's stuck on the start-up screen and won't load

An Xbox Series X|S no power repair is for a console that won't turn on: no light and no sound, a console that switches on and straight off, or one that died after a power cut. The Series X and Series S both have their power supply built in. The most common cause is that internal power supply. After that, it's usually a fault in the board's power circuit, such as a blown fuse or a shorted component.

I start by finding out which it is, because a new power supply won't fix a board fault. If the power supply has failed, I replace it with a genuine Microsoft unit. If the fault is on the board, I trace it and replace the failed fuses, MOSFETs, capacitors or other parts. Both are covered by the same price. Once it's working, I test it for an hour running a demanding game before it's posted back.

The £129 includes parts and tracked return postage, and the work is covered by a 12-month warranty. Sometimes a console that seems dead, or is stuck on the start-up screen, has a software problem that a system update from USB fixes. If that's all it needs, it's £49 and I refund the difference. I only use options that erase your games and data with your permission.

This repair is for the Xbox Series X and Series S. If the processor or one of the board's main chips has failed, I can't repair it, so it's no fix, no fee: I refund what you paid, less return postage. Liquid damage can be a much bigger job, so I quote for it separately before doing any work.

Frequently asked questions

Why won't my Xbox turn on?
The most common cause is the internal power supply. After that, it's usually a fault in the board's power circuit, such as a blown fuse. Before booking, try a different power cable, plug straight into a wall socket, and unplug the console for a while. My guide to what to check first, below, covers the free checks.
My Xbox is stuck on the start-up screen. Is that this repair?
It can be, but it's often software. Microsoft's Startup Troubleshooter and an Offline System Update from USB fix many of these. My guide below walks you through it. If it's only software, the repair is £49 and I refund the difference.
Is the power supply genuine?
Yes. I only fit genuine Microsoft power supplies, new or refurbished depending on supply, and every console is tested for an hour after the repair.
Do you repair the Series S?
Yes. The Series X and Series S are the same price.
What if you can't repair it?
If the processor or one of the main chips on the board has failed, I can't repair it, so it's no fix, no fee: I refund what you paid, less return postage, and send your console back.
The light is on but there's no picture. Is that a power fault?
Usually not. If the console lights up and stays on but the TV shows nothing, it has power. That's more often the HDMI port, the cable or a display setting, which is a different repair.
Will I lose my games and saves?
Not from a power supply or board repair. They don't touch your storage. The only time data is at risk is a software fault that needs a full reset, and I won't do that without your permission.
Did a power cut cause it?
It can. A surge can damage the power supply, and sometimes the board's power circuit. A power cut during an update can also corrupt the system software, which is often fixable without a hardware repair.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
