PS5 Controller Battery Replacement

£29

No fix, no fee · 12-month warranty · Insured, tracked returns

Signs you need this repair

  • Runs flat much faster than it used to
  • Won't hold a charge overnight
  • Switches off mid-game with charge showing
  • Battery level drops suddenly
  • Only works while plugged in

The battery inside a PS5 DualSense controller is a lithium-ion cell, and like every lithium battery it loses capacity with use. After a couple of years of regular play, many controllers barely last an evening, and some won't hold a charge at all. A PS5 controller battery replacement fits a new battery, restoring normal play time without buying a new controller.

I open the controller, fit a new battery of the correct type, and check the charging circuit and the full controller before posting it back. The repair is £29 all-in, including parts and tracked return postage.

A controller that only works while plugged in can also be a port fault, so I check which it is when it arrives. If it turns out to be the USB-C port rather than the battery, I'll tell you before doing any work. The PS5 controller charging port repair is the same £29.

Every repair is covered by a no-fix-no-fee promise and a 12-month warranty. The controller is posted to me with its battery installed, just as you'd send any controller, and it comes back tested and ready to play.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a DualSense battery last?
Play time varies a lot with haptics, adaptive triggers and the light bar, but a noticeably shorter session than when the controller was new is the usual sign of a worn battery. Turning down vibration and trigger effect intensity in the PS5 settings can stretch it a little in the meantime.
Is it the battery or the charging port?
If the controller runs flat quickly but charges normally, it's usually the battery. If it only charges with the cable held at an angle, it's usually the port. I check which before doing any work.
Is it safe to post a controller with a battery inside?
Yes. Posting a controller with its battery installed is normal. Just pack it with padding in a small box.
Which PS5 controllers does this repair cover?
All standard PS5 DualSense controllers. The DualSense Edge is a different controller, so please get in touch before booking one.
What happens to the old battery?
It's recycled responsibly. Lithium batteries don't go in household waste.

About this service

How does your mail-in repair service work?
Three steps: book and pay for your repair online, post your item to me using the packing instructions I email you, and I repair it, test it, and send it back tracked. You'll get updates as it moves through each stage.
What is your no-fix-no-fee promise?
Payment is taken upfront at booking. If I can't fix your item, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you. Assessment bookings work differently: the £4.99 covers return postage and comes off the repair if you go ahead, but isn't refunded if you decide not to or it can't be repaired.
Do your repairs come with a warranty?
Yes. Every repair carries a 12-month workmanship warranty against the same fault returning. If it does, I'll put it right.
How long will my repair take?
Most repairs are completed within 1-3 working days of arrival, then posted back by tracked post. If a part needs ordering, I'll tell you as soon as I've diagnosed it and give you a realistic date. Diagnostic-led jobs take a little longer if I'm waiting on your approval of a quote.
How do I package my item safely to post it?
I send clear packing guidance when you book. In short: wrap the item well, use plenty of padding, and a sturdy box — the return leg is insured and tracked, and good packing on the way in protects your item too.
Where do I send my item?
Your postage address is included in the confirmation email after you book — you don't post anything until you've booked, so your item is always matched to your order.
Do you cover the whole UK?
Yes — I run a mail-in repair service, so you can send your item from anywhere in the UK. There's nothing local you need to find.
What if my item turns out to be unrepairable?
I'll tell you honestly and, where the fault allows, offer an alternative. If I can't fix it, there's no repair fee — I refund what you paid, less £4.99 return postage to send it back to you.
