The Game Boy Advance SP charges through an old-style Nintendo connector, not USB-C, and years of plugging in and out wear it. A worn or dirty charge port is a common reason an SP won't charge, or only charges if the cable is held at just the right angle. The charger itself can also be the problem, as can an old battery.
I start by finding the cause. I test the SP with a known working charger, check the battery, and inspect the charge port and its solder joints on the board. Then I repair the fault, whether that means cleaning, resoldering or replacing the port. I test charging and battery play on my bench before it goes back. If the battery turns out to be the cause rather than the port, I'll get in touch before going ahead.
This service covers both SP models: the frontlit AGS-001 and the backlit AGS-101. The repair and the price are the same whichever one you have.
There are some honest limits. If the battery is bulging, don't post it, because a swollen or damaged lithium battery can't go through Royal Mail. Get in touch first. If you'd rather not keep the old-style port, the SP USB-C charging mod replaces it with a USB-C port, so you can charge with a modern cable. That can make more sense than repairing the old port, especially if your original charger has gone missing. If the power switch is also playing up, mention it when you get in touch.
Before booking, GBA SP won't charge has a few checks you can try at home, starting with a different charger.
